6 Problems That Veneers Resolve

If your smile is less than perfect, you may have wondered if you must learn to accept it. After all, your smile is a matter of genetics, right? Actually, not always! You can do quite a bit to transform your smile and get a more dazzling smile with the help of cosmetic dentistry.

By far, getting dental veneers will give you the most dramatic results. If you’ve ever noticed the smiles on Hollywood celebrities and how white and perfect their teeth are, chances are that most of them have veneers. The good news is that you can get similar results if you get veneers, even if you think your teeth have too many imperfections. In this blog, Dr. Anette Betancor at Dente Complete Dentistry explains six common issues that veneers can fix.

What are veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells, usually made of ceramic or composite resin, that goes over your teeth’s surface. Because the surface of your natural teeth has to be shaved down a bit to put the veneers in place, this is considered a permanent solution. Veneers last for 5-10 years on average, so you will need to replace them again.

Here are 6 of the most common issues you can fix with veneers.

Whiter teeth

Whether you have tried professional teeth whitening and didn’t see the dramatic results you expected, or your teeth are resistant to whitening because the dentin inside your teeth is naturally darker, veneers can be the solution.

The number of shades lighter you can go with teeth whitening is usually limited; most people see results between 2-8 shades lighter. If your teeth are naturally a bit darker, you may want to go lighter. With veneers, you can choose any shade you like, no matter how different it is from your natural tooth color.

Fix minor chips

Many of us tend to accumulate minor chips in our teeth over the years. They’re usually not anything so bad that you need major dental repairs, but they can be noticeable to you. They can even become a bit bothersome because you know that they’re present, and they may prevent you from smiling as confidently as you might otherwise.

Veneers can fix these chips. They give you a smooth, natural-looking tooth surface.

Gaps between teeth

You may think that getting braces or clear aligners like Invisalign® is the only solution if you have gaps between your teeth. But you may not need to go for anything quite that drastic. Veneers can be very effective in closing the gaps between your teeth.

Straighten crooked teeth

If your teeth are mildly crooked, veneers can work wonders. Often, you don’t need to go for full braces to straighten out your teeth, especially if only a couple of your teeth are crooked. Veneers can cover crooked teeth and make them look straight. Only you will know otherwise.

Fix pointed or unusually-shaped teeth

Many people have teeth that are unusually shaped or pointed. This is not usually bad enough to require more extensive dental fixes, but it is a problem that makes your smile look less than perfect. When you get veneers, it smoothes the surface of your teeth and makes them look even.

Replace damaged enamel

Your enamel is strong but easier to damage than you might think. Drinking acidic beverages, eating acidic foods, and bad habits like chewing on pens can damage your enamel. And unlike other parts of your body, enamel doesn’t grow back. Once it’s lost, it’s lost for good. But you can replace damaged enamel with veneers.

If you have any of the above cosmetic problems, veneers may be just the fix that you need. Contact Dr. Anette Betancor at Dente Complete Dentistry or request an appointment online.
